On Water Manager
What do On Water Mangers do?
- In charge of mussel farms, vessels, crew, yard supplies and spat supplies
- Ensure vessels are appropriately staffed
- Organise supplies and equipment for vessels
- Arrange maintenance on vessels
- Organise slipping of vessels
- Review and approve timesheets
- Source product to be harvested
- Work with factories to fulfil their requirements
- Carry out floatation and farm checks
- Assess seeding quality and growth
- Complete quarterly crop and spat survey
- Complete lighting audits
- Liaise with contract growers
- Make decisions regarding Kaitaia weed spat supply
- Oversee farm operations
- Sit on various committees
Skills and knowledge
- Skipper’s ticket
- Basic computer skills
- Significant experience in an on water role, such as deckhand, skipper
- Good communication skills
Qualifications
- SRL Skipper’s ticket
- Forklift ticket
- Crane ticket
- First aid certificate
- NCEA level 2 in numeracy
