Last week, the Marine Farming Association in conjunction with the Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) have once again had a great time on the water with the students of the Tasman region showcasing Aquaculture in the Croisilles with a hands on approach.
The students visited a mussel & oyster farm and had industry experts on board to answer questions about various industry roles; science & research, skippering & deck hand, farming, innovation and business/administration. The experts spoke of their career journeys so far and how they ended up where they were.
There was also some fun interactive workshops for everyone to keep them busy while they were steaming out to the farms - knot tying, careers and pathways, wild mussel bed restoration and skippering.
This was the last of our "Kids on boats" series for 2022, having done two trips out of Havelock the week prior in conjunction with the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce for the Marlborough schools.
Our Havelock trips went out into the Pelorus Sound and visited a mussel and salmon farm.
